+1 on getting the tune. I'll be getting one in the spring (seems a waste with Winter coming down; Snow in Saskatchewan already).

Great ad, right? I'd like to know what the snow tires were - probably nokian studs. I'd also like to know what the oil grade was - probably not 10W60. Did you notice, though that the RPM limiter was around 7000 RPMs and in one shot looked to be down around 6000 RPMs, not up at 8000? The car is protecting itself. Although it does look like oil temp is at the right place at 2:23 - but it's hard to say. So why is the limiter on?

But there is NO way that that could be 10W60. If it is, I really want to see the rod bearings after that little escapade.

You can find them for US$1200? It seems the price around is more like $1800. Where are you seeing them (I managed to snag 2 of them when the price changed at around $400 - putting them on my shelf).

Look at it this way. If they are $1800, you could probably get a rebuilt engine for 5 or 6 solenoids.

I've put in a bypass oil filter, and I'm going to bleed the solenoids and see if that makes any difference. First, though, an oil change to 0W40 Amsoil.

man 1200 1800 same issue lol... i cannot unsee the 400$ and accept paying the new ridiculous price....

anyways i just came back from my mechanic and nada ... no errors no faults .... he used ISTA/INPA
he did some tests fuel pressure is fine and fuel pump is fine... maf sensors seem to be ok...

he suggested cleaning the throttle body valves carefully ...

im gona try my other bmw certified mechanic next week to see what he has to say about this....

its not that big of an issue it but its not supposed to be doing it and i would be happy to know what is causing this exactly
...

when i was at the guy i turned it off after an hour of driving and let it rest while i wait my turn.. like around 30min passed by he came and started testing he turned on the car same thing
800rpm drops and shuts off.. second attempt flawless.

again i saw the laptop with my eyes.. no errors or faults whatsoever... he tested some other things and told me about the throttle valves that might need some cleaning
