Ah, OK - you've proved the opposite of what I thought you were trying to say - you've proved that neither thinner oil nor strict warm up will prevent 'normal' wear.
(I assume this 14k was on OEM bearings, btw?)

What I think Paclark01 was suggesting, though, is that the wear might have been worse with "Improper warming, poor oil selection, etc".

Thumbs up Don't hate because I am not an e60 owner.

I literally just took my 2007 M6 off the truck. I had it shipped in from out of state and purchased from an out of state dealer.

All seems great. It has 64k mi.

I have seen a lot of conflicting data in this thread alone and really want to get the straight info from those here who really are best qualified.

Should I simply do the BE swap now?

Also, if someone can provide a link or links to what I could purchase parts wise (preferably for under 5K total) that would be the closest to a bullet proof of the engine.

I've heard of people getting "stroker" shafts but I do not see that they are OEM spec and they require bore adjustments. I do NOT want to modify this engine in any way at all.
I simply want to harden it for better reliability.

I do plan on using 10w60 because the journal clearance is ONE thing and the oil spec BMW arrived at is based off of MANY things regarding this engine. Sure 5w40 may work with the factory clearance (hypothetically) however it may focker the valve operation, etc... so I am trying to keep this engine as close to factory as possible but again, harden it to more race level endurance.

What say you all?

Thanks in advance.
