LUX H8 160 or LUX H8 V5

So I've finally narrowed down my search to 2 products to replace my yellow angel eyes with (2008 E60 M5 LCI) and can't decide between either.

LUX H8 160 - I like the brightness and the fact that it's supposed to compete with the new 2013 model lights but my concern is would it be too bright blinding drivers. Downside appears to be from photos/videos anyway they appear to "bleed out," if that makes sense.

LUX H8 V5 - I like the flexibility in selecting different colour settings between 5,000K to 12,000K. From photos/videos I've seen the light appears to be more crisp. The minor downside is the chance of lights flickering when you turn the car off and during the fade out the lights flicker out instead (again, minor).

I'm mainly after being able to see the "pure white" angel eyes during daytime and make sure they're not blinding in the evening/night.

I have not seen either of these in person which I'm sure would help immensely in making a decision.

Any personal preferences between the two? Pros/cons?

I have the LUX H8 V4 and they've been great all along. So I'm pretty sure you'd like the V5.

I had the V4, and just got the 160's, minor update in brightness.. fits the bill for me in color.. They only flicker if you leave the light on auto, and honestly the flickering isnt like some strobe light, its a pulse type sensation.

Id get the lastest, greatest with most brightness which is the 160..

I have V5 in my 2008. My car does the bulb check every 5 minutes even with the head light switch off. I found this out when doing a vanos bleed in the garage standing in front of the car while it's running. So what I didn't know was I'd be driving during the day with the lights off flashing other cars. I videoed it for Lux and they said sorry. I have the Carley app and it has function to code out the bulb check. Still does it. I emailed Carley and said it doesn't work and they said sorry. I now have day time lights selected on in idrive so I don't unknowingly flash other cars. Love the looks of the V5 over stock.

explain....not sure I know this setting on the 08 in i-drive....do they still flash or no?

I have HID angel eyes and they have been the only thing even remotely close to the new BMW angel eyes in brightness/color.

The setting in Idrive is to have DRL daytime running lights on so when the lights are on, youi don't see any flashing. I'm sure the test is still being run but other cars won't think I'm flashing my lights at them.

Under vehicle/tires it's the 2nd or 3rd box down.

I got my angel eyes errors coded out and cold:warm checks aswell..
Now i have no flickering, errors and work as they should.

The angel eyes r fine at night they aren't that bright to blind anyone, they are perfect in that respect.. Be careful with hid anegl eyes i have heard stories if the heat turning the angel eyes lens yellowish..

I've heard the same but figured I'd give it a try. My set is from Alpine and they have not colored the rings in over a year. The harness has a resisitor that drops the voltage a bit IIRC. Anyway, I would not recommend him bc the owner (I think his name is Alex IIRC is a POS). He sold me/sent me a faulty wiring harness which literally began to burn up/melt and would do nothing to correct the issue or admit the fault to the harness. I eventually bought another kit off a forum member whose wiring has held up to this point.

Curious which set you decided on. I’m going through the exact same decision making process. I want the crisp white light but I don’t want the bleed or so strong that you see one angel eye and the others too overpowering and or blinding. For me $200 is quite a nice chunk and I don’t want to toss the money away, deciding between a muffler mount or Lux angel eyes. I know. First world problems right?

Now of course they have the LUX H8 180. I don’t know if anyone has pics of these compared the other Lux versions. My main concern is the bleeding out and if the rings are just so bright they look like headlights and not angel eyes anymore.
