Interesting...is there actual evidence that our tunes decrease the longevity of our motors? Seems quite possible...If so, it also seems logical then that the more aggressive tunes would accelerate the S85's demise?

It does seem though there are a few on the forum with high miles that are tuned and tracked heavily without any apparent problems...

I think BMW designed the engine so the rod bearings would go before the tune blew the motor as a safety net

I've had a pretty aggressive tune for the last three years of ownership with out any issues from it. I had to buy an oil cooler to run my tune or else I'd stand a good chance of overheating the engine. So far so good. I would like to think most tuners out there did proper R&D before slapping it on someone else's car. Not gonna name my tune out of respect for the OP but yeah car has been fine so far. Changed the plugs a bit early (67k), they looked fine. So I'm pretty confident it's not going to kill my motor anytime soon.

My oil temps run a little hotter with the tune and intakes but nuthin' too scary. Mighty-hope your family is great and you are well as ever. We need some breakthough stuff for our antiquated V-10's,eh?
We're like vintage now-I drove a new M6 and all you do is press hard on the right pedal and its jet-time without drama.
Seems kinda too easy-and no noise!

Do you have a custom dyno tune?

Hard to make claims like this and not come with more data... This engine has been out for so long (almost 10 years now), so many tuners touched it, all make and made around the same power..

There isn't some magic place where you can make 20whp then a leading competitor that can be adjsuted, im sorry but i dont believe that what so ever...

Best of luck to Bren tuning and the guys who got the tune, as long as it makes power and makes the car feel better enjoy..

I want to see datalogs of vanos, timing, AFR, etc. just to make sure the car is running safe and consistent aswell. Thats what really makes a tune great!
I actually did datalog my dyno pulls

The difference between bolt-ons once you decat the car is minimal. Give or take 20 hp maybe? Our V10's antiquated?...Blasphemy! Don't know any other NA car that has 50.7 hp per cylinder from a 5.0 ltr engine. Our motors my friend are still BMW's greatest achievement in my book however flawed it may be lol.

Do you have the logs to post here to see?

Also interested to see what you logged and the values for each.. Many people have done some type of basic logging but fail to understand where those numbers should fall and at what rpm..

In the next few days or so, I'll work on recording the datalogs to YouTube along with a video showing the screen of the as my car pulls 488hp number and 2 more pulls right behind it.
