The only reason I can see going with Bren over Evolve is the price. Possibly having handheld with multiple tunes might be convenient but not needed.

And possibly some customer service. I don't know what your experience has been, but 4+ emails explaining the same thing over and over and getting the same dumb questions I gave up on Evolve when I was asking about a tune when they were having a special. Just my experience..

I have mentioned this many time before and I must say it again.

The difference in the gains for tunes from well reputed tuners is negligible. This is from someone who has had Evolve, ESS and Manhart Racing tunes.

I have had nothing but a good experience with Evolve, they were a little slow getting the initial tune to me but that's nothing. Was 2 days late and after a long weekend, fair enough. I asked for a valet tune and told them to take their time, was in no rush for it. Emailed me it the next day.

Guys-my good friend and long term contributor Hasan is worth listening to as his is the voice of experience.
If you think that one tune is going to provide perhaps up to 200% of what another reputable company can provide, you'll soon be disappointed. I think it is also true that dyno results can be manipulated.

I'd like to see some independent research conducted by guys like Randy Wei or 5Soko on this matter-maybe we could take up a collection and they could scientifically measure with their existing tunes, and then this tune to see if there are any real differences. It could be worth donating a little money if they would volunteer!!!

Sorry guys

Bill

That's awesome! You should mount a hidden camera to see the disappointment of the a-holes who intended to hoon your ride.

Hi Bill,

We have tested all of the competitor maps and found gains over every single one. We are not going to bad mouth them, they offer a great product for a platform we love, however, with extensive R&D and tweaking all available tables, gains are surely to be found. We have had numerous opportunities posted in our other thread (https://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60...stock-s85.html) for discounts and deals if you are looking to test independently. We have even sold units at discounted rates under the pretense of third-party testing and have yet to see the results due to a range different reasons (car issues, dyno issues, time constraints etc), it's quite frustrating actually. Member Damen on here baselined his M5 a few weeks ago and has an appointment at the same dyno in a couple weeks. While he didn't have a competitor tune, that should be some good insight.

With all tunes being equal (as you said) remember that we provide a handheld which can be used for DIAG and is very easy to operate, it can be used with other vehicles (just pay for maps, you own the hardware), you can have multiple maps (different fuels, mods, limiters, rev limit, valet etc), we have convenient phone and email support for any issues and this is all for the same price, or cheaper, than the competition (with discount code). This handheld is very simple to navigate and there is no laptop required which eliminates many issues users have. To me, even with gains equal to those of the competition (which is not the case) our product is a great alternative in a stale market. We also offer in-house dyno tuning which is perfect for those on a budget and looking for just a single map.

And for reference, we have never touched the settings that Mustang set our dyno up with. We don't change numbers, baselines or gains, we post whatever the results are.

OP, just wondering if you have had the SMG tune as well and do you have any feedback you can offer? I'd be interested to know if the shift speed and smoothness of the SMG can be improved upon. Thanks.
