aux cable location?

So I have a gateway 500 for my iPod and the Bluetooth add on to stream music from my phone, but I also have oem Bluetooth. Sometimes when I'm trying to connect it flip flops back and forth between the two and sometimes it connects to both (ideal, but difficult to accomplish). Sometimes my commute doesn't make it worth all the trouble. I bought a 10' aux cable to run from my glove box to another location near the center console. Anyone else done this or do you have an idea of where to put it?

I originally was only going to ask pre LCI guys due to the aux port location. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There is a much better way to stream bluetooth audio with your current setup. I suggest not connecting to/removing the bluetooth add on for the Gateway. In my 545i and in clients cars I have been using the Tune2air 30pin bluetooth adaptor along with the Gateway. The Tune2air emulates an iPod with text and control data. That means that you can use the iDrive controls with the onscreen menu for full control of your bluetooth iPhone devise. Pandora and other streaming services work as well, but you only get track info and can use track up/down. I have tried Androids also, and they still work but with less text function, it's really meant to emulate an iPod. I have a Tune2air in stock if you want to try one.

Not at all what I'm asking. My current setup allows for everything I already have. Just looking for a route to run/hide my aux cable. Thanks though.

The first half of your post was complaining about bluetooth connectivity issues. My suggestion would fix that issue, allow you to use iDrive to control your music, and possibly eliminate the need to install the AUX cable. I was thinking outside the box but still trying to help. For a place to run your AUX cable I can't think of a clean way to do it other than run it to the factory location behind the center console. What do you think about the factory AUX position behind the console?

I appreciate your assistance and offer but that's not what I need. I typically set my phone between the e-brake and the center console. Ideally a route that would have the 3.5 cable come out somewhere there. Right now its super ghetto from the glove box across my console. I don't know that running it to the LCI or. Spot would make a difference. I planned on running the 10' cable through the dash and out of the console somewhere. Was hoping someone had done it before. I might undertake this on my upcoming 3day weekend.

How about this idea: E46 AUX retrofit kit BMW and there is always the option of adding/using the factory AUX location.

This could be a stock looking flush mounted AUX plate mounted near the phone. This might look ok in the bottom left area of the plastic radio bezel. Or closer to the phone?
It would have to be soldered with RCA tips to connect to the Gateway. And I think it also has filter/resistors on the wires, which might be useful but could be eliminated.

Lol. I already have that. M5s have this standard. I have thebfirst year it came in the glove box. I can easily pull it and move it somewhere, but I'd rather leave it where it is and just run the 3.5mm cable somewhere near the phone. hence the reasoning behind getting a 10' cable to do this. I'd take a pic but my girl has my car till tomorrow.

I have a 2010 do the dash isn't the same but may be close enough. The route you described is super easy to do other than the last 12" and final mount point determination. Getting from the glovebox to the center console and along the center console is a snap - just a few screws.
