This just goes to show that one needs to be careful...if funds are not free-flowing !.....when buying parts from the dealers.
But...a word of caution.
I have a good friend who owns a specialist tuning/repair business in the U.K. He previously was with Ford/Aston Martin and he categorically states that although the parts may look the same to the untrained eye there are minute differences.
I have come to believe this assertion based on my experience with suspensions.....with the roads we have here suspension components are consumables for me.
A case in point are the tie-rod's for the E39......although Lemforder produces these parts for BMW and they look identical to the BMW original there are differences. You'll also notice that with the Lemforder tie rods the turning circle of the car increases ever so slightly.
We had a long discussion concerning this issue on the E34 M5 Board several years ago.
Personally, I buy almost all of my electrical components from BMW while I mix up the suspension components due to the high wear rate.
