Pilot Super Sport 285/35-19 Discontinued indefinitely

Anyone else here this?

Wanted to put a set on my stock wheels but Michelin factory says they will not be producing that size anymore. They may produce a super sport run flat but that is the best we can hope for.

Tirerack and discount just keep telling everyone "next month" or "2 months out".

How bad is it to run the 295/30 or 35 -19 on our stock rims. I have read that it's fine and also read that it is unsafe...???

Anyone have suggestions for a comparable tire that performed nearly as well for the money (not PS2 not enough performance/coin)....

Kinda bummed....was looking forward to better gription!

I wonder what the reason is? Not enough demand for that size? Did you speak with Michelin directly or hear it from someone else that said that?

Very surprised by this. It can't be that expensive to make a size special order only.

That's a big time bummer. I had the 285's or order since Oct and kept hearing that they kept being pushed back. Couldn't wait any longer as my rears are near bald and after lots of reading on the board opted to go with the 275's for the rear. The 275 super sports are apparently wider than the 285 PS2s. Went to a highly trusted local tire guy to measure as I was planning to go to 295s and said I would rub carrying passengers in the rear. My super sports get mounted next week.

How can there not be enough demand? The first batch sold out so quickly...

The M5 is my dad's - but I drive it more than he does!

Sold Sept '16. It was an amazing 7 years.

ykjones, let us know us know how 275s fair. I was going to wait until the winter was over with before I get summer tires here in Colorado and I definitely planned to get the PSSs. That sucks.

Did not speak with Michelin directly, trusted source who did. I would love to get confirmation of this though. Some thoughts being tossed around are that Michelin needs to unload certain sizes of PS2 to get them off the books so to creat demand they halt production of the better selling alternative. Not sure if that's true but it would be a sure way to push sales to other manufacturers.

Hope someone with more knowledge about tires can chime in and make some suggestions of good alternatives.

Ykjones - did you fit the 275's to your stock rims? How do they compare in width to stock tires? Mine tires are also bald and can wait no longer....
