All BMW fuse diagrams are not created equal...fyi

Hey guys,

I wanted to post a note here to let everyone know that they should check their fuse diagram to make sure you have the correct one before you start replacing fuses in the M5 or M6. I blew a fuse in my M5 (cigarette lighter), so I went upon my normal way to swap the fuse out with a good one. I got the fuse diagram from the trunk & noticed multiple differences with the fuses in the glovebox & the fuse spec sheet that came with the car. To make a long story short, I took out the "wrong" fuses that were in the car & replaced them with the correct fuses on the spec sheet.

I turned the car on & got nothing but errors & engine loss of power warnings, etc. I couldn't figure out why everything was going to hell so quickly just because of the fuses so I looked at my M6 fuse bay & BMW fuse sheet. It turns out, there were five or six fuses that were spec'd different on this sheet than the one in my E60. The M6 had all the correct fuses & works fine. I followed the M6 fuse sheet and fixed all my issues with the M5 by installing the correct fuses, per that spec sheet.

Moral of the story: My 2006 M5/M6 fuse spec sheet is wrong (about 7-fuses worth), so I followed my 2008 M5/M6 fuse spec sheet & it is correct. My E60 M5 came from the factory with the correct fuses, but the incorrect fuse spec sheet. I am not sure if they misprinted this, or what ~ but it really made the car inoperable & if I didn't have an M6 to look at ~ I would have brought the car to the dealer unfortunately because it is kind of hard to imagine that BMW would post the incorrect fuses on a sheet in your car that they supplied you.

This is just one example of why I bought two V10 M's. That way if one goes wrong, I can always look at the other one to see how to fix it.

Hey guys, back in April I took the plunge and bought a pristine Silverstone 2008 E60 M5 with a 6 speed manual transmission. After a month or so I noticed that my windshield washers were not spraying but the headlight sprayers were. I dove into the fuses and made my first mistake. I didn't take a picture of the fuses before I started. I noticed that about 7 or 8 slots were missing a fuse (or so I thought). I grabbed the fuse card from the trunk and FILLED the open slots. Now when I start the car up, I get the EDC error but EDC is still working (to what I can tell). Now I have looked all over this forum for any hints but most point to 2006-2007 M5's having the "incorrect" fuse card in the trunk. Since my car is a 2008 it should have the right one. I have looked up my cars options online and have this:

I really need either a picture of another 2008 E60 M5 with a manual transmission fuse box or some understanding on what the hieroglyphics mean on the fuse card. Also, I am pretty sure the slots listed as M5/M6 specific were empty including 4, 9 and 19. PLEASE HELP!
