Man, such a tough crowd here

When you have a chance, please let us know about the specifics of the plan (exclusions, etc.).

I am a USAA member as well and would be interested in such a plan.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

Yes smg is covered

It's exclusionary but basically covers everything - did alot of reading and was easy to use and file and covered almost everything. The one big thing is rust - it doesn't cover rusted stuff.

Note: my car actually has 38k miles - so to get the cheaper price just say 35k miles or less otherwise it's $7000 - that's the cut off

Considering a 2007 BMW M6. ~48K miles.
I posted this in the M6 forum as well.

The dealership is offering me a warranty 36,000 miles or 36 months for $3,700. This is a Custom Edge Preferred Coverage(Warrantech), including Enhanced electrical and technology package. They say they are selling at cost. I still have to go over everything the warranty covers but it seems pretty extensive from the brochure.

Anyone use Warrantech Custom Edge Preferred? 36000 miles/3 years is this enough?

In particular Fidelity Platinum quotes (I got the most quotes on that company) jumped after around 35k mileage. My approach was to find several dealerships in my area selling these once I realized the difference in quotes can be a nice chunk of change. I found Easycare was highest (although the BMW dealerships I got quotes from for Fidelity Platinum wasn't too far away from Easycare Totalcare). In the end I found a dealership with a knowledgeable finance manager that offered a solid quote on Fidelity Platinum that kept it at the $1k/yr rate on a 10k/yr mileage and I provided the PPI showing car was clean. Also I did find one dealership selling Fidelity that would not issue one on a v10 so it's case by case. Basically I found each dealership had its quirks on going or not going along with covering a v10 beast.

If you find quotes too high because you have an 06 and over 40k mileage, you could go for quotes on Nissan's Quality Guard+ assuming they'll cover an 06. At 30k mileage it was 30% cheaper on a 4 or 5 year than the best Fidelity Platinum quote, however I didn't go with it because the BMW dealership I will service the car at for warranty work had never done any claims with them.

And my quotes were on m5's not under any warranty but existing warranty was never asked so I wouldn't think it matters to a dealership selling you one. Hopefully you find that's a non issue in getting quotes. Good luck

Does anybody else have any experience with Quality Guard +???

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Question Aftermarket Warranty - which is best?

I am shoppin' around for an aftermarket warranty. Seems like there are a few companies out there and I was just wondering if any one of you had one like that, how much it cost you and what your experience with your company was.

Interested to find out what you guys recommend.

I am not sure if I qualify for CPO because my factory warranty has expired and I didn't renew it.

I am '08 @ 42k miles

I had a negative experience with my aftermarket extended service agreement, warranty, worthless piece of paper...

I purchased the service contract through USAA who I have had positive experiences with. However, this contract is administered by Assurant Solutions (a.k.a. United Service Protection) in Florida. Here's a link to the tale (see post #24).

https://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e63...ml#post4014922

Bottom line was: I had a injector repair performed on the vehicle prior to buying the warranty. When I made a new claim months and 1000s of happy miles later, they said the damage was a pre-existing condition and "declined to participate" in the repair. I argued the damage couldn't be positively linked to previous repairs and my mechanic also argued on my behalf. I got nowhere fast and hired a lawyer while I set to work on fixing the car. In the end I was refunded my full premium, a goodwill gesture (as they put it), and I fixed my car with much help. I will not be going down the extended warranty road again, ever.

2007 M6 cab, SMG, Sapphire Black, Portland, CA, HUD, CF trim,
