Got to be a V10 IMHO. BMW will be only to keen to cement the F1/road car links for both technology and marketing purposes.

I hardly think that BMW has a lot of experience with a V10 production.. They do a fine job for their forumla engines, but building an everyday street engine is completely different from a racing engine... I still believe that a V10 for the next M5 will be very unlikely.... The M5 is first and foremost a sedan, and having a rev-happy V10 is the last thing that a heavy sedan needs... sure, it's great to have a V10 engine, and be able to boast about it... but it's just a bit impractical for a sedan.. If anything, a V10 would be used in the new 6 series or a M1 replacement....
