E60 M5 Howling Noise from Rear Axle Area

BMW has published a service bulletin to replace the front differential bushing on early production M5 (09/05 up to 01/06).

The original design must transmit more vibration and noise than the updated design. These bushings are not part of the differential, so they might not be changed during a Dinan differential upgrade.

My M6 is 9/2006 production and has the updated design. A picture is attached, to show what to look for.

resurrection of a very old thread

So, now that my car has these symptons and is completely out of warranty - what are other members experience with trying to have BMW complete these repairs on a good-will basis?

Or secondly - does the entire exhaust have to come out in order to access and replace the bushings? TIA.
