+1 for this. My mirror got a line in it. Called Stacy there, fixed within a week. Total cost $100.75, including shipping. Thanks!

I have the same problem with the bubble in my rear view mirror ('03 E39). Can anyone verify that the mirror is the same for 2000-03 E39?
Thanks.

If you follow the instructions on the order sheet (ie photos. part number etc) they will get you the right replacment.
As far as I am aware they are all the same.

I believe the biggest component of "what's different" are the options you have on your auto. there's a sticker (hopefully) on the side of the existing mirror, that Stacy will want a number off of. and they also want some pictures. The form has everything they're looking for, except that number. She may have asked me for the number because my information was somehow incomplete. They're very helpful though, and when all was said and done, my new mirror is completely as expected, and works, for 1/6 the cost of a new one.

FYI, my wife drives a 2003 Rover with the homelink buttons on the bottom side of the mirror. I would assume other BMW manufactured vehicles of the same years used the same mirror. A lot of the switch gear is the exact same between my M5 and her Rover. I have never seen an e39 M5 with the buttons. No need to worry about them with this car.

Did mine - piece of cake. Very easy to deal with, very fast shipping, and very easy to remove/reinstall.

I did mine recently.
Contacted Stacy at Sybesmas
They will email you a form to complete, and specific instructions. Note, they do not exchange mirrors with HomeLink built into the mirror(This means having buttons on the mirror). If the garage door opening buttons are on the center lighting console, you are good to go. You will need to take pictures of the mirror including the wiring harness to include with your form.

Failed mirror
Back of mirror
Wiring Connector
Connector on mirror
Important sticker with model numbers on side of mirror stalk.
Wire colors on mirror(there are 9 wires)
IMPORTANT REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
1. There are two black cover shells which easily pull off the back of the mirror
2. Once the plastic covers are removed, it is time to remove the mirror by TWISTING the mirror "stalk" from the 6 O'clock to towards the 3 o'clock position. DO NOT pull the mirror but use a twisting motion.
3. Once the mirror is disconnected, uncouple the wiring connector.
4. This process should take about 3-5 minutes at the most.

REPLACEMENT
1. Connect the wiring connector from the mirror to the one on the windshield
2. Align the mirror connector starting 3-4 o'clock position and rotate towards the 6 o'clock position.
3. Replace the 2 plastic black cover shells onto the back of the mirror assembly.
4. This process should take 3-5 min max. Now, you are done.
5. Send your failed mirror back to them.

GO HAVE A 'COLD ONE"
