Pretty good deal on coolant expansion tank

As I said and most will agree, these are by far superior to M62 tanks for example. Is it the construction, much lower operating temp which corresponds to lower operating pressure etc...it's probably little bit of everything.
Having said all of that, that brand new big white tank sure looks nice in engine bay. I'm very tempted myself. I already have new radiator and both upper and lower hose. This would complete the deal.

It is the yellowing thing that drives me crazy. I replaced mine many years ago, now you can't tell it from the original yellowed, but strong reservoir, likely 5 - 7 years. You could see the yellow ting by the end of a year and after two it was clearly not white, but yellow.

Probably formulation / grade of plastic used. For example, I've replaced the 15 year old one on my 97 528 and it wasn't much yellowed while new BMW one was only slightly more white. Nevertheless, the M5 one seems quite well built as we don't see many failures reported.

6-8-19 update.

Just ordered the kit version. That price was simply too good to pass on. It'll sit on shelf with brand new spare water pump and whichever one fails first, they will both get installed and I'll have complete new coolant system (radiator, thermostat and upper / lower hose replaced previously)

I guess it's nothing unusual. If we consider let's say 2009 $ values vs 10 years later and the fact M5 is already in "classic" section on real oem, the price is still high but not as outrageous as pork chops which we can argue it's cheaper to produce.
As I mentioned earlier, new white reservoir has really nice visual effect in engine bay vs yellow one. At least for a few years anyway.
