That was the point. The the three engines do not have the same temp clutch engagement. The S62 is much higher because the cooling system works differently.
Reality is it won't make much of a difference just noisier.

Sailor24 - Thanks for the info, that is what make this forum so great. Any chance that you can tell me what the M5 fan clutch engagement temp is, and for the 540 M62 motor as well. My guess is that I jumped the gun a bit due to a big dose of enthusiasm. I am probably going to put the M5 back to stock and use the updated fan assembly on my DD E39 540.

Sorry my memory gets worse every day, I vaguely recall 110 F air temp starting to engage a fan, which fan don't remember and the M62 is lower by a fair bit, maybe the M62 is 110 and the S62 much higher. The info is here though, we have had many a discussion of the importance of changing the clutch fan with the correct clutch and not a M62 fan.

Years ago I was having high temps in my M5. I switched out the OEM radiator and mechanical fan for a Zionsville all aluminum radiator and electric fan. It's been trouble free for about 15 years now. No high temps...

Good Luck...

I did this mod in my e38 with the M62tu earlier this winter. I live in Phoenix, AZ and we are starting to get into the hot part of the year. So far no issues here. My main motivation for doing this was just that the fan looks less prone to randomly exploding. If it cools better or makes less noise, that is just a side benefit for me.
