No, you don't have to do that.

My mileage stayed excellent. Even with the blower it gets better mileage than my nonturbo subaru winter beater that makes 1/4 the power lol

On my work's dyno dynamics my car went from 330whp to 445whp so very similar delta. Now 465whp with intercooler and pulley (and 4000ft elevation). Aiming for 500whp soon. Already made that on a Dynojet but those are always optimistic.

In theory it suppose to improve the gas mileage, but when you have all that power, you really don’t care. I average anywhere between 150-180 miles per tank.

Jeez. I get 300 miles/tank city driving the tits off it. 500/tank highway. Last spring I drove it from Calgary to Kelowna on 1 tank, and then still drove around Kelowna a bit before refueling, like 550 miles.

I live in SoCal, which means Mucho Traffic (sorry couldn’t resist). I’ve never driven the car where I had to fill up between stop. My e39 has never gone on long trips.

However, when I purchased my e60 V10, I was averaging 21.5 mpg for 2200 miles driving it back from Wisconsin to SoCal and I did it in about a day and a half.

On my setup, about 10-15% decrease. It was worse until my last tune.

My theory is pulling the belt for the SC causes more drag and accounts for much of the change. But I can still pull low to mid 20's on the highway if I drive near the (boring) speed limit. Not much of a price to pay for a 50% bump in power!

Regards
Jerry
