Great work on the headliner! I was under the impression all E39 M5s had Alcantara as standard though? Is that just a North American thing?

Yes, the visors were a lot cheaper. They weren't even $400 shipped back then. A couple hundred maybe? They didn't have the sticker though.

I tried removing the sticker from the OE leather visors but there was always a residue or sign of it left over that I hated.

Which route you took?

Car has something 180000km? Original suspension? Rear axle bushings?

Well, I had to Ggerman translate this baby, but now I get it. So in other places outside of the US, alcantara only came with extended leather.

...and by "extended" leather you actually meant full or complete leather.

Thanks, Kiz! Might be true for the North American market but I did see few pre-facelifts with normal black fabric in the US. I wanna say all facelifts there have Alcantara? But not sure.
In EU it was an option which my previous 2 M5's also didn't have.

Alcantara visors are Euro option only hence the lack of airbag stickers. Clemster told me he's never seen Alcantara visors on the M5.

Yeah, no way to remove them without them leaving a trace. I'll keep an eye on used set here but they are usually sold together with the headliner.

A5 and A7 and some country roads along the way.

It just ticked over 180k km. If you scroll back to when I bought the car, I overhauled the front and rear suspension minus the rear axle bushings. It's riding on Koni yellows and stock springs. Pretty happy with this setup.

Ok thanks. Mine has 165k km so wondering should i replace bushings. Konis are good and fair price solution, maybe i go that route also.

I got mine with 167k km, struts were blown, thrust arm bushings shot and rear ball joints also shot so I went ahead and replaced everything with Lemforder parts. You can search the thread and see what I exactly did but basically I replaced all of the suspension components. Rear axle bushings looked good so I didn't touch them. Best to inspect yours as well.

I was going to go with OE Sachs from the dealer or Koni for shocks. At the end Koni's just made more sense financially and they are well proven setup on the M5. So far so good and the car rides wonderfully.
