Haha, you were right that it was the pump that was making the noise! It was just low on fluid due to faulty hoses/tank leaking it all out. But anyway...

Another quick update while I had the car on the lift, noticed that the belts were really old! Well, thats easily fixed right?

Ordered a set of Conti belts:

My cheapie clutch fan wrench broke the last time I was trying to undo fan clutch on my E46, so had to make a quick run to Home Depot for this monstrosity it barely fit!

Came out rather easy looked good overall and was still tight/blades in good shape:

But looks like this is a replacement part anyway, so

A/C belt was fine overall, until I found this:

So, obviously a good thing I got it replaced. I found that the best way to put this on is from under the car! Of course, its much easier with a lift:

The serpentine belt was quite a different story, and looked like it was ready to snap at any moment!

Now this one was MUCH easier to put from the bottom! No need to jam your arms on that fan shroud!

All put back together for a quick check looks good:

Nice work bud! I did my belts back when I swapped my alternator and remember this scar on my wrist from a radiator rub... so sharp

Yup, tried that first, and was like screw that, I'm going from the bottom.
