Alright guys i installed a used C43, but I still don't have a connection. I plugged all three wires in, but the car isn't responding to it. Essentially nothing on the screen has changed even though the radio is plugged in and installed. i haven't checked the 75 fuse that is in the radio, because my local auto parts store did not have them in stock, but i do plan on checking that tomorrow. Anyone else experience this? Assuming its not the radio fuse, anyone know what else it could be? I DD my car and it's really starting to get old not having a working radio. It leaves me wide to open hearing noises coming from the car that immediately makes me want to pull over and inspect. lol

I wanted to revisit this issue. I left it to die as I moved on to address other issues and then I decided to go the aftermarket root. At the moment I don't want to spend on the money on an aftermarket headunit, so in the meantime, I was hoping to get more feedback to narrow down the original issue that led me to deciding to go aftermarket.

The issue: I have all of the component, MKII, C43, DSP amp, and 16:9 - so why doesn't the radio work? I also noticed that not all of the buttons on my steering work either - I have a brand new LCI wheel. Only the cruise control button works. Anyhow the bigger and most important problem is that I don't get a radio signal. I'm not even given options on the headunit screen, almost as if the radio is connected. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? It's literally like the car isn't recognizing the existence of the radio module. Could this be a fuse issue in the trunk? All the wires are there, so it doesn't make any sense

The head unit works fine, the nav works as well, how ever the radio does not. The car came without a C43 radio module. I did not know that until it finally occurred to me to check. The interesting thing is that when I plugged in the new to me, but used C43 module I got from a forum member, nothing changed. The connection of the radio module was not recognized by the car. That's the issue im trying to resolve. Why isn't the car recognizing the radio module?

Is the cruise control non-functional as well? If it is check the connections to the new steering wheel and the clock spring.

Check the fuse in the radio module's connector along with the radio and amp fuses in the glove box. Also, check in the boot for signs of water intrusion. This is a issue with the e39; when water gets past the tail lamp seal it falls into the radio connector and can cause a short in the radio. This, typically, kills the radio.

You said that there are no options in the navigation. Are you saying that there are no selections for: Settings, Code, DSP, Telephone (if equipped), OBC or Navigation? This could be an issue with the firmware. What software version is your navigation computer running; and is it OE or a modified version? If you have no "Settings" option you can read and manipulate the navigation computer via INPA.

The cruise control is functional. I haven't tried using it but when I press it I do get the symbol on the gauge cluster.

I replaced the fuse on the module itself and that didn't change anything, however, I have not checked the fuses in the glove box, so I will do that.

I didn't notice any signs of water intrusion, but I also wasn't necessary looking for any. I will reinvestigate that as well.

I was referring to not having radio options. I was able to scroll through the other settings. I was able to pull up the nav screen - I did not attempt to use it, but the screen did come up. I did have the setting you listed - just nothnig for radio. I have a 00', so I believe its equipped with the MKII. Personally I have not performed any upgrades to the firmware or any other relevant SW.

I don't have anything to reference, but does this look normal to you guys? I feel like there should be more fuses there. I took this pic from inside the trunk passenger compartment.

Do you have INPA, NavCoder or PA Soft? If so scan the car and see if the radio is present. It is sounding like the radio is not being seen on the I-bus. If this is the case, either there are wiring issues or the radio module is likely damaged and will need replacement. Clemster usually has the c43 for very reasonable prices.

Update: Guys I made some progress. I was missing fuse #58 - which is for the on-board, NAV, and radio. I replaced it and I now finally see the radio. However, I wasn't able to get any music playing and I'm also now getting a really loud sound coming out of the speakers, particularly the rear deck speakers. I'm guessing there's an issue with either the antenna or the DSP (which got a little hot). I had to reconnect everything so I'm wondering if I pulled something in incorrectly. I no longer have the CD changer but I imagine that's irrelevant. One question I have is - on the DSP AMP, there's a small metal phillips box. Does anything know what that is? On there is a black connector and a small antenna looking pin insert.
