Auto dimming mirror question

I just noticed that on my internal rear view mirror, not the entire mirror auto dims... About 1" width on the passenger side does not auto dim... Is this normal???

Re: Auto dimming mirror question

I've had that happen to my RHD M5 on all 3 mirrors... the dimming area gradually got smaller and smaller and during the daytime, I could actually see difference in mirror colour between the normal dimming areas and the parts which did not dim.. that happened when my car was still within warranty so I took it to the dealer and it got repaced for free.
