I have been a member here since 2000 (probably most known in this part of the forum for the E39 production statistics thread http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e3...p-e39-m5-extensive-production-statistics.html and at least since 2013 I have wanted to have an E39 M5. A couple of weeks ago I finally got to purchase one!

It's a 2000 German market car with a fairly long list of options, including Caramel leather (M3CR). Has the upgraded engine since it is a 7/2000 build. My intention is to restore everything to original condition (except the navigation which I prefer to have 9:16).

One question, when driving in 5th and 6th and around 1500 rpm there is a vibration when I give it some gas. Could it be a bad flex disc (no 2 in the link) or is it more common to have issues with the prop shaft centre support? I am really not familiar with this problem.

A couple of pictures of the car in it's current condition. I am looking for a mint condition driver's seat as it kind of spoils the interior as it is now.

Welcome
Probably the highest maintenance color combo :)
It looks pretty, Enjoy

Thank guys. Well, the interior is certainly high maintenance. The driver's seat has seen its best days and I am currently looking for a good one, or two nice front seats. I'd really like new OEM leather, but 766,05 € for the upper seat cover is a hefty price tag ouich

If anybody has good Caramel seats for sale at a reasonable price and can ship to Sweden I would be interested. I will give it a try with some leather dye from ebay and see if it at least helps bring some life back to the bolster.

"Good" caramel seats are pretty much impossible to buy. Your best bet is finding a leather repair specialist. The leather on my seat was pretty thrashed, and he was able to replace certain leather panels like the bottom and 1 side. So my seats are now a combination of old and new leather

Thank you! That's pretty much a copy except yours is RHD and facelift version. Wonderful looking example!

Yesterday evening I did the driver's side bolster och it actually turned out better than expected. The leather is really soft and the surface still has the original look. Will probably do the rest of the seat as well.

New headlight lenses:

Waiting for new pre-facelift fog lights as well.

Got the seat panels changed also, because both sides had extensive scratching (don't know what the previous owners did to it).
I was a bit lucky to get a set, part number 52107054592, as they only had a few left in stock and likely will not produce any more. This was not cheap, but looks so much better now.

On the weekend I will install Club Bruyere wood trim instead of the walnut that is in the car now. Then I will start looking on the technical issues.

Does anybody know if US cars ever came with the aspheric type of mirror glass or is that only for the EUR models? My right side glass has gone completely yellow, so need to sort that.

Got hold of a driver's seat with much lower mileage. 230k vs 110k (km) made a huge difference. Still has some small scuffs (one small white mark on the outer edge), but they could probably be treated with some good leather dye.

I also did the shifter + bushings this spring. OEM stuff. The old parts were really worn out.
