Post Couple of questions

Question about the fold down rear seats. If you have those is the arm rest in the back a lot thinner? I saw a 2000 M5 yesterday in the lot at Concord BMW and it had the fold down rear seats but I was surprised to see the arm rest was a lot thinner. I have the luxury interior (MY01) without the fold downs and the arm rest is really thick and solid.

I also noticed this car has black door locks on the inside tops of the doors. Mine are silver. Is this another difference between sport and luxury interior or is it a MY00 thing?

Rob,
I believe there is a difference in luxury and sport package for that specific part. I could be wrong since I never really looked everything in details between sport and luxury also between 00 and 01 model.

The arm rest shouldn't really matter how think it is for as long as they feel comfortable when you rest one of your arms on it. The top part of the arm rest (when it's folded down) is what most important.

Are the arm rests the same width, but not as thick?

My real fear with the folding rear seats is that the car will not be as stiff as it otherwise would be.

In particular, I wonder if any braces are removed to make space for the folding rear seats.

Yes. The arm rests were the same width but not as thick. I was wondering how sturdy they are because they looked quite flimsy.
