Weird, maybe you need a bigger spacer to not scrub at full lock? I'm running NT01's which are pretty wide and the suspension compresses pretty hard with no rubbing.
Yes it is. It depends on so many factors to say every configuration will work on every car. I'm lowered a couple of inches (to about 14.5") on Koni yellows and Ground Control springs. Given your experience, however, I'm willing to try a 15mm and 20mm spacer. Cheap but good enough ones are available and if they work and fit, I can get H&R or ECS spacers to finish the job. I think my wheel bolts are already long enough, too, to suit a thicker spacer.
