Jed, i hope you're well.
A question about your M5 Touring project; how did you get around the GM/LCM/EWS amalgamation?
Did you use the locks and keys from the M5 in the Touring or did you use the Touring Keys and have to re-code the GM/LCM/EWS.
I'm about to start this project with a '97 540i Touring and a '00 M5.

Pardon the delayed response! I just finished a big build thatís going to Germany and I had a very tight schedule to complete the build before the car went on the boat.
To answer your questions...
I used all the M5ís body harness, ECU, cluster, EWS, keys, ignition and lock tumblers, LCM to build the wagon. The GM though is from the original 540iT.
I did not know that the e39 touring was available as far back as 97. Iíve only seen 99MY tourings. It will still work.
