A question about your M5 Touring project; how did you get around the GM/LCM/EWS amalgamation?

Did you use the locks and keys from the M5 in the Touring or did you use the Touring Keys and have to re-code the GM/LCM/EWS.

I'm about to start this project with a '97 540i Touring and a '00 M5.

Thanks
Deepan

When I've done stuff like this in the past, I manually set the VIN on the new module using PAsoft and set mileage to 0. It'll automatically update the mileage to correct without a tamper dot.

Does PAsoft need any specific hardware or can it run from a laptop with inpa and the usual obd1/2 cables?

Does anyone have @M5 Jed 's contact details? Or anyone else done a V8 to V8 swap that can shed some light as to what to do?

Cheers.

Pa soft requires its own adapter. I purchased on ebay from this seller because they were US based. Can get cheaper if not in a rush

https://www.ebay.com/itm/V1-4-Diagno...item1a39312708

Software can be easily found online for install. Im using it on windows 7 with no issues. If need help finding the software send me a PM and I'll help

As far as S62 swap help.... if you have an M5 I suggest joining the E39 M5 owners Facebook group. Very helpful folks in there and several have posted wagon swap stuff. I think there are 3 wagon s62 swaps going on now?

Generally not incorrect, but it's mostly a bunch of long time m5b guys along with some new owners. We keep them in line (I'm one of the moderators of the group, @TheShafro is one of the admins)

I've got one of those already, so I'll try with the modules. I may download the 1.4 version of the software though.

Thanks.

I tried to join the Facebook group, but had a disagreement with the admin about the futility of sending photos of my M5. Apparently my opinion is wrong, so I'll stick to the current groups I run and am a member of, but I appreciate the heads up. Thank you.

There's about 3 being built in the UK alone right now, and I'm about to start in the next few days with a good friend.

He drove mine and got jealous, so now he's off to buy his own. 🤣🤷*♂️

Thank you

Deepan,

Pardon the delayed response! I just finished a big build thatís going to Germany and I had a very tight schedule to complete the build before the car went on the boat.

To answer your questions...

I used all the M5ís body harness, ECU, cluster, EWS, keys, ignition and lock tumblers, LCM to build the wagon. The GM though is from the original 540iT.

I did not know that the e39 touring was available as far back as 97. Iíve only seen 99MY tourings. It will still work.
