Sunroof Issues

My sunroof only slides open and closes but will not tilt any more. I heard a pop before it stopped working.Has anyone had any issues with this before?

you probably broke one of the sliding pieces in this diagram: RealOEM.COM * BMW E39 M5 SLID.LIFT. ROOF-COVER/CEILING FRAME

You can buy them individually from the dealer for pretty cheap but you have to take out the headliner and drop the frame down to put em in. If you take the glass out you can look through the top and see if any of them are broken.

I thought it only comes out from the top?
Thats the way I did it

I wish to have no connection with any ship that does not sail fast; for I intend to go in harm's way.

the glass comes out from the top but the frame drops down from inside. you have to drop the frame down to replace the pieces connected to the cable.

You broke the sliding blocks as stated above (part A in the pic). The best way to replace them is take off the glass (6 bolts), and replace them from the top. Ive done this a few times and it only takes 30 min.
