I just say: has the curiosity been aroused? did you click on the page? Goal reached, today only clicks are counted to push a page popular.
If a page does that, contest pages have to do that as well. There is no time for good research.
I also clicked and think the whole thing is fake.

it is surprising how much press has come about from one casual comment on a podcast from a month ago.

1. an E34 M5touring demo/test car with an S70/2 BMW V12 engine
(McLaren F1) - stored in the basement of the M GmbH with a 20+
years layer of dust I believe it when I see it

2. Top Gear's Chris Harris bought an E34 M5touring. His new
E34 M5touring is one of the early 3.6 liter cars.....etc.
Very well, congratulations Mr. Harris to E34 M5touring
ownership, you just bought either a replica car or an unique
E34 M5touring lacking it's original engine, really ???

All original factory E34 M5tourings are equipped with the BMW
(S38B38) 3.8 li engine,
power output 340 bhp ECE / 347 bhp DIN.

Thks mate Perhaps I should have known / remembered…-.
Still, no blame on Chris Harris or David, it is the facts (?) in the article that are putting me off
-
E34 525itouring is a good body base and I have no reason whatsoever to doubt that David did a good job
with the power line transplant and otherwise….. so the car is what it is and should be enjoyed as is...
-
that article however is a real mess...
