1991 bmw m5 engine re-build

i bought this car from a person out in California. its one owner with only carfax documented 87K miles on the car. the person told me it does not run so i got a good deal on the car. I got it shipped to florida and having my mechanic take the whole engine apart and going thru it all. I will have pics up soon. I took other parts to get powder coated same color.

Looks fun I had most of that done to mine a couple years ago, but only the head/valves/chain, etc. Bottom was good, so did not pull the engine completely.

So what was "messed up"? Hopefully not broken....

the intake valves are all bent when we took engine apart. Im guessing the previous owner took to get serviced and they tried to do valve adjustment and was a few degree's off and bent all intake valves.

I wish i can give you an answer that is what we saw when we took engine apart. The intake cams are bent. The seller just did not give specific when i bought the car from him. I asked him why does the car not run all he said is "I don't Know". but for the price I took a gamble and its costing me a few bucks already. But I want to do it right and all OEM parts plus while the engine is apart why not install all new parts. I will post more pics of parts being replaced. the bottom end, cams and cylinder walls all solid.

Very cool project. You should have a rock solid car after this with that mileage and a rebuild!

Looks like you might also be looking for an M5 front bumper!

Always fun seeing engine pics! Good luck.
