Suppose I should chime in too....been lurking on here for a long time, don't post as much as I should, but read near enough every day.

I'm a 30 year old materials engineer of Cornish decent who has lived the last 8 years in Switzerland, a country whos roads and mountains I love dearly. I currently live with my beautiful Spanish girlfriend Laura who besides being an architect is very patient with my fascination of cars and driving, i.e. 3300km road trip in our very loud elise patient .

I work here in Switzerland for Alstom, a French industrial giant (TGV's, Power stations etc). Over the past 8 years I have worked in laser machining, diffusion brazing, superalloy development. More recently I managed the build/setup of a new materials testing laboratory in China.

My hobbies and interests are any rare and unusual cars (think brown maserati bi-turbos with brown velour interior unusual). I have owned all sorts, from white Manta GTE saloons to Porsche 928's. Not in love with any marque but have had a few BMW's and my M5 longer than anything else which says something. Dream car would be an e31 B12 5.7 Coupe or something equally as stupid. Garage is currently a '95 model M5,a Lotus Elise and a half restored MGB GT.

Outside my love of cars my hobbies include wakeboarding, snowboarding, hiking, travelling and getting out of trouble with my missus.

Love this board, and it's great to see faces behind names.
Great thread!!!

Hi, I'm Dan, I'm 38 living in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire which is about 20 miles NW of central London. I live with my beautiful girlfriend Julia, we have no pets or children yet.

I've been totally obsessed with anything that has wheels for as long as I can remember, although I didn't learn to drive until I was 32!
Before then I was mad about motorcycles and used one as my only transport from my 16th birthday. After 16 winters I finally decided enough was enough and bought a wreck of a '73 mini clubman and started my first car project. Its still not finished

I spend my days and a few nights providing anaesthetic support services at a local hospital which is certainly interesting and varied if a little time consuming.

My M5 came into my care in November 2006 and has been a joy to own. I think I've been very lucky and got a good car, it makes me smile every time I drive it. I have to thank everyone on the board for all the great advice you have given me, I can't see me ever selling it.

This is my awesome car and a picture of me after a 20 mile mountain bike ride across Exmoor, lots of beer/vodka/absinthe and a night in a tent.

Hi, nice to meet all of you and to read all your nice stories.
I'm Erik, 32 years old and living in the northern part of Holland. I'm working as a Design Engineer at a forklift truck manufacturer.
I'm a huge car-fanatic, and own a '93 M5T since december of last year. This has been my dreamcar for a long time, and I'm very happy that now I really own one. Besides the M5 I have a classic '72 Alfa Giulia with 2.0l engine. Lovely car too. Only driving it in summertime, to keep the delicate Italian metal in perfect condition. Owned various BMW's like E30 td, E28 td, E34 tds, E36 in the past.
Other hobbies are traveling with my lovely Suzanna, squashing and playing guitar (I used to play in a blues-band, unfortunately we quit last year).
Attached some pictures of the most important items in my life.

Cheers, Erik

Good thread Ray.
Hello I'm Phil, 34 fast approching 35, been married for 6 years to Daniela and we have a 14 month old 'devil in the making' - Luca, and along with our dog, Bruno makes up my family. I work in technical sales - render, roughcast and walling systems.
I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and sleeping. I have been interested in motorsport most of my life and managed to do a year of karting when I was at college, although as you'll see, I am / was, not exactly the ideal weight for that particular activity, although could hold my own with a current btcc front runner....
I have been a fan of the e34 M5 since I saw the first spy pic in autocar in 1987 / 88 ?? - black with turbines as I remember.
Unfortunately I have not driven my car for over 8 months (well, other than a couple of unoffical laps of the queens park in edinburgh) but I'm hopeful that I can get some air in its lungs in the spring regardless of whether I get the edc sorted or not !
Cheers.

Finally home so I have access to my pictures ...

I'm Stephen, 36 years old, born and live just outside Glasgow in Scotland, on the banks of the River Clyde, where they used to build all the ships! Single at the moment though I've a date tonight! I work as a Management Consultant expert in Information Security across all industry and government sectors. Always been into cars, but got properly into them when I bought a Honda Integra Type R and I've turned it into a bit of a track monster. Bought the M5 as my "comfortable", "economic" runaround for when I was working away from home a lot, meant I could have a car in each city.

I spend Monday->Friday away from home a lot (Aldgate in London currently), which gets on my nerves as my other big love is making music (electronic stuff) and I have quite a few old Roland synthesizers and drum machines .... this also means I've got a kick-*** sound system and my house is famous for my parties! I'm also a bit of a social animal, but that's just because I'm single - I love getting out in the fresh air and enjoying the beauty of Scotland when I can and I go up Glencoe on my snowboard (it's only 90 minutes drive from home, and the drive up is as good as the boarding).

Considering a move to Luxemburg - I love the city, I have good friends there and it's only 90 minutes from the Nurburgring and Spa ... we'll see .... not sure what to do now the Global economy has started becoming unstable, it would be a silly time to leave the good job I have.

Tom, you in 123 Buckingham Palace Road Sky office? If so, then my company (PA Consulting) is above you - I spend a lot of time in there - we could meet for a coffee
