Thanks for the thread; I love detailing as well and have been meticulously cleaning/detailing my vehicles since I can remember. I do bring my car in to a professional detailer once per year for its spa day, but other 364 days it is my pleasure to work on the M5.
Very nice work on the Audi and GTR! I love the look of black paint on vehicles - always have, always will. I just hate the fact that any/all scratches show easily and dust builds up almost immediately after cleaning. I think my next ///M will be white with a black interior.
I'm partial to Wizards Products
, especially their Mist-N-Shine Detailer for daily use. It seldom rains here in southern Arizona (which is perfect for me as an OCD car/motorcycle enthusiast with an affinity toward black vehicles), and I only actually wash my car with water two, maybe three times per year (and one of those is a professional detail from Stewart Detailing here in Phoenix). I also like Lexol
for their leather cleaner/conditioner, Plexus
for cleaning/protecting clear/any plastic (especially headlights, tails, and instrument cluster/Nav screens), and Invisible Glass
for windows and sunroof glass. These are all of my go-to, regularly used products. I use each product with a fresh microfiber cloth.
Like you, I'd be more than happy to talk detailing/cleaning with anyone.
Here's my 2006 Sapphire Black Metallic M5 after I decided take advantage of the awesome weather and remove the brake dust this past Friday (sorry for low quality pics - car was in the shadow of garage/lack of sunlight/bad angle/wife's iPhone):
