E39 owners - type of windscreen on your car?

I am wondering whether the "green stripe climate comfort windscreen" was standard on Australian cars or still only an option "354 GREEN STRIPE WINDSCREEN"?

BMW Technology Guide : Green stripe climate comfort windscreen

I'm thinking of getting my screen replaced over here and might be able to get one of this type. If anyone has one I'd like to know if you'd recommend it?

My beast and I will be in Brisbane by May

Well, mine is a standard "354 GREEN STRIPE WINDSCREEN"

In Brisbane, knocking 10 deg off the cabin temps can only be a good thing! Once I switch the engine (and so A/C) off, I can feel the temperature start to rise almost straight away - like someone turned a radiator on.

Cheers,
Adam.

Thanks Adam, I've burnt myself on hot seatbelt buckles before in an old HR

Just heard a genuine green screen is £249.27 + VAT so I think I will get it replaced, installation is approx the same price

It looks like this is standard on Australian M5s

S354A GRUENKEIL-FRONTSCHEIBE Green windscreen, green shade band

As are:

S415A SONNENSCHUTZROLLO FUER HECKSCHEIBE Sun-blind, rear
S548A KILOMETERTACHO Kilometer-calibrated speedometer
L810A AUSTRALIEN-AUSFUEHRUNG National version Australia
S825A RADIO-STEUERUNG OZEANIEN Radio control Oceania

You will need:

S534A KLIMAAUTOMATIK Automatic air conditioning

And the darkest legal tint also helps keep the interior cool.

Thanks!

I have a km/h only instrument cluster from a mainland European M5 which Phil C will be fitting and coding over here.

S534A is listed as standard equipment and my car has the "S761A Individual sunshade glazing" option AKA rear privacy glass, so I will only need to get the front doors tinted

Hi Ben5
I have just imported my M5 from UK into Brisbane, How are you finding the process?
I would recommend having the screen replaced back home as I was told a screen it $1100 here for the part! and is only available as a genuine item.
Just to warn you maybe be careful putting anything valuable in your car for shipping, I had a number of Items stolen in transit.

Sorry to hear about the theft but did you choose to ship via RORO? Mine is coming in a sole use 20ft container.

I engaged the services of Iron Lady Imports. Chose Package B, so I did the import approval application and they will look after customs clearance and registration.

Yes I got the screen done over here, a genuine part was only £260 + VAT.

Have started a new thread with more info about my experience
