I got a reply from him on the 14th saying that it had been sold. Price and surname were not mentioned though :P

It looked like a nice car.

I have fire extinguishers under both driver and passenger seats. I thought that was standard fit.

If I ever decide to track it, then at least that is one job I don't need to worry about.

Guys who are looking for an e39 M5 be wary of this vehicle,

2001 BMW M5 E39 - carsales.com.au

the car from the photos posted doesn't have the correct bumper nor the right windscreen (no rain sensor there and wrong rear view mirror). I have spoken to the gentlemen and he seems nice and willing to provide what has been carried out on the car. however, he has no prior knowledge of the vehicle (how many owners before him and so forth). anyway, thought will do a revs check on the vehicle and it seems that it was declared as an economic write off in 2008 for a collision of some sort, I guess the front side of the car. and had a write off inspection in July 2010, due to the vehicle being involved in Victoria floods in 2010.

if anyone needs the report I am happy to PM it to them.

I am very thorough with my investigations prior to buying cars. At the end of the day, this is a toy. One with the potential for great fun - but also major heartache and wallet pain. I have read through so many threads on here in the past couple of months that i feel significantly more informed on the E39 M5. I know what questions to ask and what to look for. I would always get a PPI if the car passes muster.

I am fortunate to have a very good mechanic (Matthias at MH Autocare, Waitara) and i am quite capable on the tools myself.

No picture of the Titanium Silver M5. Can probably go get one - they live next door to a friend of mine.

Kevin's m5 is still available - i think he just took the listing down. Really nice guy, he was very honest about everything and sent over all the details. If it wasn't in Perth, i'd probably buy it. It's just not worth the $1500-2000 in shipping. That money is better spent on the car, or not at all :P

Cheers,

Andrew
Do you have Kevin's number or email to contact him about his vehicle.

I do indeed. Please send me an email and i'll get you guys in touch - ak @ andrewkirkby.com

Also, the 2002 Le Mans blue car that was listed a couple of days ago (dealer in Victoria) looks really nice. 154,000km on the clock and from the pictures, looks to be in great condition. Dealer servicing since new.

I'm currently doing service history checks with the two dealers who have serviced it (most recently in 2011 in Queensland) It's due for a service and maybe a couple of other things such as rear tyres.

Might do a deal on this one. It's my preferred colour combination and is a late model (01/02 build). If it hasn't had the big ticket items done (clutch, suspension etc) i'll take that into account when making the offer. It might just be too good a car to pass up. It is currently priced at the top of the market though... so we will see what happens.

I hope everyone is well

AK

The photos on Carsales look like the dealer that Ben Tong bought his Beast from. PM him if you want any info regarding that particular dealer.

Are you in Melbourne? If so and you want someone to come along with you , I'm more than happy to if I'm in town

cheers

Gordo, - firstly, thank you for your kind offer. I am actually in Sydney... I might have someone go check it out for me.

The dealer is Trade Prestige in Melbourne - the sales guy i have been speaking to is Michael.

From my discussions with the two Queensland dealers who have serviced the car over its lifetime (Motorline and Coastline BMW in Queensland) it doesn't look like the clutch has been changed at all. Motorline (servicing the car for the last 60,000km) were not very forthcoming with information, other than confirming the logged services and some work done to the coolant system (hose replacement).

I'm just doing the numbers right now, factoring in a clutch replacement, parts etc for servicing (due) and two new rear tyres - as well as getting the OK from the bean counter.

At the end of this week i may just be an E39 M5 owner

Cheers

Andrew
