Advise for possible e60 M5 Purchase

Hi,

I've been lurking here for a while but thought it would be the best place to ask some advise regarding Aus Spec e60 M5's.

I presently have a modified e90 335 that I am looking at replacing some time in the next 12 months; since I have 3 kids I need a 4 door sedan. The current M3 is just too similar to what I have in both looks and performance.

I'd love a new F10 M5 but cannot justify the expense so I'm seriously leaning towards a late model e60 M5. Having loved the modifying process on the e90 I cannot see an M5 remaining stock too long, but time will tell

So what are the must have options on the e60?
I assume they would have had some life cycle update, when did this occur?
Is there anything I should really be aware of in terms of items that should have been corrected by the dealer in servicing of the car?
Any known issues to be aware of?

Cheers & thanks for your input.

Stuart

The HUD (heads- up display) and Ipod input are must haves. Otherwise, the options are useless. There was a lighting update for 08'(US, but probably 07' for down under) that also included a revised iDrive and a slightly different interior.

Every other manufacturer should give up on building their own cars and just make M3s instead.- Car and Driver
After the embarrassing performance of the 5- and 7- series... all future BMW vehicles should be built and developed by the M division-Jorge Gonzalez.
