Yellow Cog

4003 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Brisbane M5
I was reversing out of my garage today and received a malfunction notification on the idrive screen accompanied by the yellow cog.

The malfunction was:-

Transm. malfunction
Limited gear selections possible.
Continued driving is possible.
Drive moderately.
Have the system checked.

I will ring BMW first thing this morning to get them to have a look at it.

Given that it's Friday and the car is not already booked in I am guessing that I am going to have to wait until next week sometime. Wish me luck!

Well got the car back.

Nothing too interesting.

They checked and cleaned a few sensors but nothing really untoward.

I was told to just drive it and see if the problem recurs. If it does the sensors are to be replaced.

Have you had any problems since ? I got a yellow cog warning when driving the car round the corner to work. Turned the car off and then back on immediately and the warning was gone. Been a week now and the car has been driving really smoothly.
