Women admit size matters - for cars

For women, size really is important when it comes to a car.

Four out of five females believe a powerful motor can make up for a man's possible other deficiencies.

Yet almost nine in 10 women also confess to not feeling safe when being driven by a man, the survey from Tesco Motor Insurance found.

Asked to name the sexiest car, women plumped for James Bond's Aston Martin, followed by prestige brands Porsche, Lotus, Mercedes and BMW.

The least sexy car was the popular, if functional, Citroen 2CV followed by Robin Reliant, the favourite of Del Boy in Only Fools and Horses.

Women do admit that men are better behind the wheel at some things. Top of the list is going backwards - women believe reversing is a male forte. They also feel that men are less likely to get lost but less likely to admit it if they do lose their bearings.

Allan Burns of Tesco Motor Insurance said: "Our statistics are really interesting and clearly show that women certainly like big cars, but if men really want to impress the ladies they need to combine a stylish car with a sensible attitude behind the wheel."

The Top 10 most sexy cars for women were Aston Martin, Porsche, Lotus, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar , Audi, Range Rover, Jeep and Ferrari.
