Hi all - I’m planning on addressing some rust in the hinges of my wiper arms (see attached) and was wondering if anyone has advices, tips, etc. for best ways to approach.
I’m going to be replacing my windshield cowl so will have the arms completely removed. Currently I have some sandpaper and a high heat resistant black paint for the job. Wondering if I need anything additional.

Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated!

Evapo-Rust. no need for sandpaper, better than sand paper for that small problem. Soak for a few hours, rub with fingers now and then to break up. Stuff works like magic, and can be reused. its safe on paint. If I have a rock chip that has a bit of rust, I will soak a towel with this stuff, set it on rock chip, let it does its magic and then paint.

Just don't soak anything with a rust preventative coating such as an oxide, phosphate or cadium. It will also take those off.

Yeah, you can use a rust remover before re finishing. I re sprayed mine satin black when I replaced my cowl trim last month.
