Who cares if it fits,the problem is rather that any non M5 shaft is not designed to take the monster torque....

Even if it fits,a big NO to use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

imagine it breaks apart....depending on the speed it can end deadly........not worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol ok maybe i should phrase it differently... i read somewhere the 540 ones are the same.. is this true... there arent many m5s being broken but loads of 540s

what does broken mean? Are you saying that the older fleet of 540i cars is failing rubber guibos which invariably destroys the driveshaft?

The 540i driveshaft will not fit M5. The ring and pinion is larger on M5 which makes the driveshaft shorter.

If you want an M5-compatible driveshaft, don't look at other models.

by "broken" he means in a junkyard sold for parts. no a 540 ds will not fit an m5, i have one sitting in my basement.
