OK, has anyone else run across this condition--a loose, wiggly oil dipstick tube? And no I'm not violently ripping the dipstick out or anything--it's actually so tough to get out I skin my nuckles when it finally lets go.

Mentioned it to my tech and he was able to tighten the securing bolt(s) at the bottom of the tube.

Am I the only one with this? Does it recur?

I had this exact same problem - dip stick screw fell out and it was fixed by the dealer. And yes the stick is very hard to pull out. I have a M5 built in 10/01 as an 02 model. It that close to yours?

My M5 is the same--a 10/01 build date, '02 model, same color, TiSi!!!

Hmmm, makes me wonder if our cars had the tubes installed at the factory on the same late Friday afternoon or very early Monday morning.

My tech has a theory that folks who don't check their oil very frequently get hard to remove dipsticks--that doesn't seem to be the case with me, but maybe I'm just weak!!!
