What's Latest with phones?

I'm picking up a '00 M5 tomorrow (my second!) and was wondering if anybody's got the latest info on the telephones.

Does anybody have the 8000 series Motorola units? What's anybody's experience with the M5 phones of any description.

Thanks.

And can anyone speak to the compatability of Nokia phones? I just got an 8890...

Had the Nokia 8860. Was not impressed with reception or availability of car kits.
Turned it back in.
8890 is supposed to be their "world" phone. As of yet, no one in S. Florida carries the coverage for this one.

I have the Motorola Startac installed in my M-5 and it works great here in the Atlanta area. I would be interested in the voice activated phone once it becomes available though.

I just took delivery of my M5 8/2000 last week here up in ICELAND it has the new Motorola V 3690 installed between the seats. It has the voice control system and I love it.
The phone is wery elegant and only 70 gr. and
can be removed from the car with an easy flip of a button.
Again I am very impressed by how the voice system works with the phone and the notepad

How much did u say u got the Motorola V-Phone installed for? Does 70g mean 70 Grand?
70 gr. would be about 2.5 oz (ounces) for us non-metric types.

And I just bought the digital version of the 3690 called the 8160 (had and loved the 3690 but analog service here in NorCal is getting quite crappy).

When I asked the local dealer about phone options, all he had was the digital startac.

Can you give me your dealer info to see if I can get the install kit from him?

Thanks
Alpy!
If you hear anything about fusing the 8890 into the M5, be sure to post it!

Thx.

On my US M5, only the BMW StarTec phone will work in the car. I had a StarTec of my own and the dealer tried to use it with the BMW install kit. It would not work so I had to buy the BMW programed StarTec which works fine.
