I'm no mechanic..........but typed it into Google..........

http://www.motorcycleproject.com/motorcycle/text/leakdown.html is a good explanation (from a motorcycle forum)

and an extract from some site about 928's.......

A leak down test is where each cylinder in turn is put just before TDC, and
compressed air is applied via the spark-plug hole. The leak is measured as a
proportion of the "leak" of the open test pipe, so a perfect seal would be
0% leakdown.

The big advantage over a compression test is that you can hear where the air
is escaping. There will always be some leaking past the rings, but there
should never be any leaking past the valves, or into the coolant!

Hope its a start............

Mark

Not sure. Maybe more of an engine rebuilder, or perhaps more of an "old school" mechanic ?

I am sure its not an uncommon thing as far as engine fault diagnosis goes.

I'd give a few of your favourite garages a call......
