Perhaps it is a waste of time to discuss it, but what (if anything) would you be willing to pay to be able to get your M5 from the factory in Chrome Shadow like the Show/Concept cars were (on the e46 M3 as well).

I recall the word being that it cost something like $20k for the special paint job for BMW. I'm sure it would be a lot less if doing more than "one-off" jobs but still expensive.

I've never been willing to pay anything extra for a **** color but I think I would for Chrome Shadow...

Would you pay $5k USD? I know I'd foolishly consider it...:)

Do some searching on the forum and you will find a link somewhere to the company that does the Chrome Shadow paint. I recall spending some time on their web site about a year ago. I seem to remember they are Italian, but am unsure. Chrome Shadow is not only very expensive, but apparently pretty fragile as well. The former quality makes it inappropriate for most people and the latter to the rest.

However, it is truly stunning, and the best color for a car that stays parked inside.
