A very happy fellow!

I was definitely seeing RED! Lots of it!

A whole bunch more can be found in my album here.

A little story behind all these pictures. Ferrari/Maserati of Seattle hosted their annual "Ferrari on 12th" event again this year with a huge multitude of exotics ranging from the Ferrari Enzo to the super-light Noble M12 GTO 3R (a 2000 pound 400 hp twin-turbo V6 track monster).

Two highlights of the day were sitting in the Enzo and getting a chance to see what VanCooper's W211 E55 could do against the Lamborghini Gallardo at full song!

Enjoy! :byebye:

does that Noble has the original 3.0l V6 turbo from Modeno?

there's an importer advertises the Noble M12 GTO 3R in the back of Road & Track magazine, but i don't think it includes the engine, because of the emission problems.

awsome pictures by the way :eek:oohhh:

Pong, hardly....I'd rather go for a Porsche and then a Ferrari eventually.

The E55 vs Gallardo story goes something like this. From 12th in Seattle, we were parked next to the Gallardo. When it was time for everyone to get on the road, they'd flagged us to get behind the Gallardo. So, for a couple of miles of city driving, we'd play a bit of a cat and mouse scooting from block to block with a number of Alfa Romeos swirling about. After a while, we'd finally gotten on the freeway and that's when the Gallardo took off! We'd lost the Gallardo due to heavy traffic but we knew exactly where to go. After a bit, we'd finally caught up to the Gallardo. After passing each other a couple of times, the freeway opened up long enough for us to drop the hammer! It was now down to the E55 and the Gallardo with the latter slightly ahead. The E55 was spooling up to full boost with a roar. Fists clenched, the Gallardo pulled ever so slightly ahead. She was not getting away from us. But a couple of seconds passed before we were seeing speeds well into the triple digits. After a couple of moments, we'd realized that there was no catching up to the Gallardo. Backing down, we'd handed the victor over to the Gallardo. It was a good try on the E55's part.

I'm not sure if that particular Noble is the one you're thinking of. I just know that it has a 3.0 litre twin turbocharged V6 producing 400 HP with about 390 ft of torque. It also has a 6 speed manual tranny too. I would LOVE to drive one of those things sometime. I talked to the owner for a bit when taking the pictures. He loves that thing to death.

Wow, so the Gallardo was clearly faster than the E55? Maybe that wouldnt have been the case in say speeds over 130-140mph?

Very interesting race!

Keep in mind that there were three of us in the E55 with only one driver in the Gallardo. VanCooper is confident that the outcome would be different if it was just himself in the E55.

Outstanding pictures! The Enzo looks better every time I look at it. lovelove
And what a fine collection of exotics... I'll have a good night rest dreaming about those. :)

at higher speeds the weight does not play that much into the equation.

however, with the e55 a victory is only a chip and pulley away while to make the baby lambo faster is a very expensive proposition :)

beautiful pictures. confirms my thoughts that the enzo looks like an *** in my humble plebian opinion :D but the attention to detail is- very very nice as is probably the whole driving experience. nevertheless... that look... dunno. never seen it in person, hope the pics dont do it a justice...

I have to admit that I wasn't too crazy about the looks of the Enzo until I saw one in person last year and then again this year. And then sitting in one did it for me...I am now officially a convert.

What a day! After last year's outstanding show including the Enzo, the F40 and both a 250 GTO and 250 LM, I was convinced that this year's show would be amazing as well. The weather didn't look too nice on the drive down but it cleared up well on arrival in Seattle (I counted at least 15 police cars on the way down on I-5).

About the run with the Lambo. Of course such a light and powerful exotic should walk away from most sedans, it's not so true with the E55. The Gallardo impressed me alot but that's supposed to be because it's an exotic but the E55 impresses even more because it's supposed to be an executive sedan, not a ballistic missile able to keep up with high end exotics. In this case, I had atomic80 and my girlfriend in the car which adds about 300 lbs combined to the overall weight that the engine has to pull but I never believed that made a big difference in a car that powerful. 300lbs would make a big difference in an M3 CSL with roughly 350hp and low torque, but in an E55 with 476hp and over 500 ft/lbs of torque? I don't know

Anyways, we we're rolling at about 60 mph and I heard him downshift and off he went so I reacted and saw that nobody was ahead so I sunk the pedal and almost instantly the E55 kicked down in 3rd gear and voila, triple digit speeds came up in no time and we kept going until there was traffic. It was obvious that the Gallardo had the initial jump because he acted first and I reacted to his move and then I had to sink the pedal to kick down two gears so he was already on his way when I started to get going. So he did pull away but when the E55 had the momentum, he stopped gaining grounds and we had to exit...

The outcome would've been closer if I had been in the AMG speedshift mode where I can select gears myself but I wasn't expecting to have a go with the Gallardo so I went into full auto mode. The AMG speedshift is definitly very fast for an auto but not Lamborghini "E-gear" fast... My chances would've been better if I had no passengers and if I had been in the right gear...but it was fun anyways, the E55 IS a VERY fast sedan!

If I was at Ferrari designing the next generation V8 Ferrari, I would get to work because there is no way that the high rpm friendly and low torque numbers of the 360 can keep up with the monstrous V10 of the Gallardo! The only thing that the Ferrari 360 Modena has over the Gallardo is a better interior, the 360 Challenge stradale and the Ferrari Mystique. I'd have to drive a Gallardo and 360 Challenge stradale back to back to write a fully fledge comparison.

About the Enzo, I really appreciate it for it's performance because for looks, the F50 wins hands down. Those round curves on the F50 are so sexy whereas the Enzo is a more serious sharp-edged performance machine. I still prefer the F50 and at today's market value of roughly $600K, it seems like such a deal compared to the Enzo's $1-1.2m price tag on the second hand markets.

P.S You can argue that there's also the F40 at roughly $350K is also such a good deal compared to the F50 but the F40 is such a different beast. The F40 is a savage beast, whereas the F50 is a refined exotic. Remember also that the F40 is the last Ferrari of the reign of Enzo whereas the F50 is post-Enzo Ferrari era.

:) :) :)

Awesome pictures as usual atomic.

Does anyone know how much a Noble will cost when it's all said and done?
The Noble is imported by a company in Cincinnatti I believe which is called Superformance. I think that they also are the ones who make those Cobra replicas and a few other cars.

The owner said that the car came as a shell, I asked him if he could put a bigger engine in the car but he replied that it would make it heavier and that he would rather stick to what is recommended so he bought a Ford V6 (of the latest Ford Contour) with two Turbo's. He also had to buy the transmission. All said and done he mentionned the ballpark figure of $80K!!! Very nice gentlemen very well educated about his car!

P.S He mentionned a 0-60 time of roughly 3.8 seconds!!!
