Just finished a major 2 day detailing... went to start the car and had a weird noice coming from the speakers. It was there with the radio/audio on or off.

I had removed a couple of the PDC sensors (removing all the black trim makes it easier to buff/wax), so I thought that might be it. Reinstalled the PDCs and it was still there.

Hard to describe, but it was like a bad cap in an amp- kind of like a mid-frequency 'motor boating' noise. Radio would turn on and off, I could select tape/cd/sirius/AM/FM but the noise was still there.

So, took out the Nav, the CD deck, the radio, the Sirius, the voice module and the audio amp... left it to sit for an hour and watched some football.

Came back, hooked it all up- works fine.

So, my guess is that the missing PDC sensors caused something to be "upset" in the module that 'adds' the pdc warning to the audio/speakers... unplugging all the audio reset it.

That's my theory at least...

Sometimes with BMW electronic gremlins, there is no logical explanation. Good that it has stopped making the noise.
