Anyone know how to split the water pipe that delivers cooloant to head? I am rebuilding my motor and want to change the orings at the pipe split. I had tried to use soft face hammer to split the pipe but don't want to get too aggresive with it. Anyone have a tip?

Well, impatience got the better of me. After soaking the joint I was able to take a soft face mallet and with a few medium raps, dislodged the pipe. The o ring nearest the end was pretty dry rotted, square and a moderate amount of mineral deposits. The second o ring took a square set but was in pretty good shape. The engine has 19 years and 110k miles so this seems to me to be a well designed joint. The second o ring probably could hold out for a few more years before it leaked. Pressing on in preparation for the rebuild.
