I would have accepted this as the next M5 without any hesitation, why did they have to put a stupid v8 and turbo in an M? Why?

Listen I love the SMG, and in fact since I got my Dinan 5.8 stroker installed, the car has been just something else and I can't imagine it being any better (other than perhaps adding the ESS super charger to the stroker? mmmmmm ). Having said that, before you go and lash out at people that like DCT, drive a race car with DCT in it - R8, Lexus ISF or even an S4, you would be surprised. Its actually funny because the concept behind DCT is very similar to a computer programming solution to jittery performance in video games - the name of this solution? Double Buffering :) You draw on a hidden buffer and when you are done, you swap a *pointer* so that it becomes the visible buffer and visible buffer becomes the drawing buffer - leather, rinse, repeat. So kudos to people that came up with a smooth shifting transmission that can rival the SMG. It obviously did not help SMG reputation that the initial versions of BMW software for SMG were crap (2005, 2006 model years) and destroyed several transmission in addition to being jerky and abrupt. Obviously the SMG in a 2010 or even a 2008 is miles ahead of the earlier implementations so you have to take that into account as well (i.e. people like me who had to go through 3 or 4 transmissions in their car just to get things right).

Nasty wrap as well...
They didn't make it when fitting it around the lower front airintake so they just made cut-outs?
Really, an amateur can do better than this :dunno:.
You can clearly see it's a black car with the doors open, did they forget to paint it Alpinweiss?
Looks more like a mule than an anniversary model to me.
But still, it's an E60 M5 .

Rivals the SMG?

DCT takes the SMG out and shoots it dead. There is no rivalry to speak of. I have never read such gratuitous compensation for inferior cra*p (funnily enough, inferior cra*p that you happen to own).

Read what I wrote again, I was praising the DCT. However, SMG does have certain strengths over DCT (like ability to shift multiple gears in one go). Also, technically speaking, DCT is a sort of SMG if you think about it, except it uses two clutches to engage the next gear for you in advance. Again, would I take this car (the one Gustav posted) over what I had, hell yes, in a heartbeat, partly due to the DCT, so relax and take it easy before misinterpreting what others are saying.
