seemed so. was a very tidy lap, very impressive, the circuit is designed by lotus so is primarily tight corners, which i think will be to the M5's advantage, just wondering if the stig will be using launch control? looking forward to fifth gear tomorrow !!

i thought it was very lacking in quality. Very puerile and generally not that funny. Clarkson seems to be making everything up now rather than his previous wanderings from the truth. James May spent nigh on 15mins chatting about some ugly honda that isnt even on sale here and not once did he mention what it was like to drive.

Just so you guys know. The laptime for Ferrari 575 was done on a wet track. After knowing this the time for CLS55 might not be that good.

Laptimes from earlier episodes:

1 min 35.0 secs - Volvo S60R
1 min 35.2 secs - Ferrari 575 Maranello (Wet)
1 min 35.6 secs - Alfa Romeo 147 GTA
1 min 35.8 secs - Citroen C4 vts
1 min 36.2 secs - Aston Martin V12 Vanquish (Wet)
1 min 36.2 secs - Renault Clio V6 MKII (Wet)
1 min 37.0 secs - Porsche Boxster (Wet)
1 min 37.3 secs - BMW Z4 (Wet)

535d are also going to be testdriven around the track.

Bernie Ecclestone has an AMG CLS of some description...

There was a pic in F1 Racing magzine of it up on jacks missing what would have been some very expensive wheels...

Speaking of F1, Top Gear magazine put last years Renault F1 car around the (Wet) track and cracked the minute barrier.

Tha CLS did it in 1.26.2 The 575 with the GTC pack did it in 1.26. The 575 time that you posted is for the standard 575 which they tested about 2 years ago.

Ok, that explain it.
1.26 is a very good time. Are they using the same track as last season?
to beat 1.26 min with the M5 seem to be impossible.. Fastest laptime is done with an Enzo, 1.19, x min.

yes, same track last season (or at least as far as I know of, unless they decide to change asphalt by a cm here and there - which is the case for F-1).
