...It's been done before and I have searched the board but these things seem to change monthly. Last year Liverpool Victoria were great but this year they don't seem to want the business.

I live in London, which doesn't help!

Anyone got any great quotes recently??

Thanks in advance for any pointers.....

I did mine 8 weeks ago with Norwich Union Direct who were £200+ cheaper than anyone else (but then again they did give me the option of the highest additional excess which helped bring the premium down).

Thanks guys...NU seem to be the cheapest at the moment for me. 1,150 in London.

Thanks for the heads up. Any more unusual locations greatfully received.

Thanks

www.confused.com - VERY useful website, especially for me as a young driver, where you get an insane variation from place to place. This scans about 25, and gets back to you instantly.

In fact, I use confused to get me the best price, then tell that to my broker - he matches. I'd always use a broker they can help you out so much during claims, fighting with your insurance company FOR you, not against you.

I'm with Norwich Union. I pay around 550 pounds a year fully comp which I think is a deal.

Call my broker Christian Wheatley at Keith Michaels Insurance. 020 8288 0677. They are perfomance car specialists. Say I recommended him! I came across him via my brother when he worked at Bell & Colville, the Prodrive Impreza people.

He has beaten every internet or big comany quote I've thrown at him for the last 6 years. Brilliant service too, and he always remembers you on the phone. When I took out an armed police, diplomatic protection car with my old 405 Le Mans a few years back, he was superb. No quibles, very quick payment, protected NC, the works.

My M5, all mods declared, with 7 points, (slap my wrists), full NC and SW11 postcode (bad one for some reason) I pay £1600. The next best I had was over £2000.

Cheers,
Barney

Ashok.....

How on earth do you manage £550??

Are you 93 years old - but young looking :15: or registering for insurance in the Outer Hebrides???

Thanks Barney - I called Christian but he hasn't come back to me just yet.

Confused was also a very good service - actually gave you the reason some insurers won't take the business.

Thanks all

Try Equity Red Star, they only wanted 1100 even with a supercharger conversion, SW1 London, I am 34. Without the s/c I pay £800 with all my other mods declared.

Norwich Union for me as well £751 fully comp with business use. I pushed them and this was for 14 months cover rather than the normal 12. I was with Direct Line last year but they jumped up to £950. Checked out L&V and they quoted £721 but it was for 12 months.

Norwich Union online was by far the best for me too. I was with L&V and last year the premium was £740 and the renewal came in at £1121. Checked out Esure, Tesco, DL and Confused + a few others and the dearest (Endsleigh) came in at over £1800 :eek:h: However NU direct is £718! :hihihi:

Thanks to all..

Barney - your broker eventually came out on top! Just over a grand for me. Thanks for the info. Just goes to show that brokers can still do it.

Thanks to everyone else though...
