Hi Lee,As the title states gentlemen, I'm currently with A. Flux and just had a renewal through so am now looking for companies that can better the quote.
Note: All modifications declared.
Cheers,
Lee
CheersCall my broker Christian Wheatley at Keith Michaels Insurance. 020 8288 0677. They are perfomance car specialists. Say I recommended him! I came across him via my brother when he worked at Bell & Colville, the Prodrive Impreza people.
He has beaten every internet or big comany quote I've thrown at him for the last 6 years. Brilliant service too, and he always remembers you on the phone. When I took out an armed police, diplomatic protection car with my old 405 Le Mans a few years back, he was superb. No quibles, very quick payment, protected NC, the works.
My M5, all mods declared, with 7 points, (slap my wrists), full NC and SW11 postcode (bad one for some reason) I pay £1600. The next best I had was over £2000.
Cheers,
Barney
A.Flux are the only ones that will even quote, everyone else takes down the details, speak to the manager and then it's ''sorry sir we can't cover the car with the modifications fitted, but we can do the standard car for 500''.:3:I Am suprised a s flux covere ess engined beasts,i have been with them for over 15 years and live just up the road from them
and remember mentioning i was thinking of new brakes and wheels, they did say it would be a big step on my premium..
what was you quote on a modified engine..
Ithink some companies may like to see proof that your a business within automotive industry...i.e.. copies of invoices etc.Get a trade insurance, say valeter or mobile mechanic as a (fake) job and bob's yours uncle!
On trade they don't ask about the mods
Thanks, will give them a go.try a-plan, quoted around 12-1400, that 6 years no claims, no points, profession doctor, kt6 post-code
mods: supercharger conversion e39 m5, wheels, bbk, coilovers, strut braces, body kit. they have a branch who do specialised car conversions, engine transplants etc. etc. - my enquiry was almost too normal for them. they base their quotes on what car's you've driven before etc. so if it's your first high power car, your premium will be higher which makes sense.
Hi Kumaran,
My quote has gone up 125 pound (sorry no sterling sign, using an American keyboard) with them feller.
Waiting for Keith Michaels to get back in touch at the moment.
Lee
My renewal email came in today, from Adrian Flux.
The want to increase my premium by .......... £62.
I had to re read it a few times.
Any luck with A Plan or Keith Michaels ?
Keith Michaels wouldn't touch it feller, postcode again. This is becoming a lame excuse by the insurers this year, there has never been a problem before and my area hasn't changed to warrant the 'change of heart'.My renewal email came in today, from Adrian Flux. The underwriter with A-plan is 'Markerstudy' and from a little research they don't seem to have the best customer service?I'm with A-plan and car is covered as a nowack conversion. I agree there are few companies out there offering sensible quotations for daily driven high powered or modified cars, classic policies aren't an option unless you can limit mileage.
Time to give them a call, I reckon !Update fellers,
A-plan have come back 200 cheaper than A.flux, so thats cheaper than I paid last year.
I google'd them as I'd never heard of them and they don't fair well. Though talking to Chris at A-plan he's saying that they are moving away from main stream insurance and going solely into top end/ performance insurance.Leem, marker study are the underwriters. I hope never to really know what there customer service is like ie I've not processed a claim other than for a windscreen. What have you heard, do they pay out on claims?
