Two weeks and 1400 miles through Mammoth Lakes, Incline Village, Livermore, and back to Huntington Beach. The only “F-me” moment was getting caught in a downpour on 200TW track tires 🤣😂🤣.

Scared 🐥🐥🐥💩💩💩owners make horrible owners. No yellow cogs. No red cogs. No SMG, so no problems with my 3 pedals

Had three bikes on top, drank lots and lots of fuel, added zero oil, felt an earthquake, and ripped through the canyons in 100+ degree temps with no problems. At times, I’m pretty sure my s85 at 6000rpm woke up every campsite in the valley on the way to the trailheads.

Crossed 175,000 miles on this trip. Right now, she’s getting fresh fluids and service, plus a full exterior/interior detail at OMS as a reward for a job well done.

Get your maintenance together and get out and drive!!!

The irony, during my first few years with my e60, I was regularly putting on 1000 miles a week. I spent years commuting up to San Jose every other week in my e28m5, then my e39m5, and my e60m5 -- which is why this trip was no biggie.

The only other "F-me" moment was driving over the Grapevine at about 4100'. It was 50 degrees and drizzling at the bottom...running through my I'm-from-Colorado-weather-math...I have 3000' more to gain in altitude, which means about a 10 degree drop in temp, for each 1000' for elevation gain. Yeah...I'm F'd AND I'm on NT01s!!! It was Sunny and 65 when I left the Beach!

Awesome to hear about your trip man. I have been putting on a lot of milage on my car recently and you give me hope. Sadly I don’t have the stick however, but I think my Smg is solid after all the work I’ve done to it.

Just curious, how often do you have to top the oil on your car?

Thank you,

Zac

It depends on how I drive. This time I added zero oil over 5000 easy miles. I was shocked — kept on waiting for my level to drop.

Other times, if I’m “on it” it may be 1/2 a quart over the same miles. If I’ve been at the track, it may be a quart over the same miles.

With all of that said, I always have 2 full quarts in the junk in my trunk.

Yup. Ran my AD08Rs! Noise…nah!!! Or I’m so desensitized to tire noise from the other cars, that I don’t notice anymore.
