I am planning on draining and refilling the Getrag 280/5 transmission on my '91 M5. The drain plug is obvious but I am not sure which is the fill plug (#12 in realoem diagram). Is it A, B or C in the second link (I think it is B but wanted to confirm)? Realoem reports that both fill and drain plugs should be the same bolt size but on my M5, they are not.

Thanks in advance.

The refill plug is on the left hand side of the gearbox just a touch further back than the drain plug .

IIRC it's a 19mm spanner that's required and it should be indentifiable by the crush washer beneath the bolt .

Yep , it's bolt B in your pic .

Just refill until the oil starts to overflow from that bolt hole , then put the bolt back in .

Also always take off the fill plug before you take off the drain plug.

The reason is that if the drain plug comes out easily, but the fill plug is stuck you have yourself an empty transmission and an undriveable car.
