any way to tell if you TPMS is broken and giving faulty low pressure readings other than bringing the car to the dealer?

A couple of ways I check but nothing more than common sense I think -- reset the TPMS and see if it still faults, check to see if it is all tires or just one. If just one trade out the valve stem caps, reset TPMS and see if it shows (faults) where you switched the caps. Otherwise I don't know how to eliminate the issue. Good luck.
